Important House rules.

1. Instruction:
There is required attendance for all classes including meetings and morning assembly. Absence will be reported to the office before instruction begins. If it is necessary for you to be excused from a single classy, you must inform the teachers who are involved. If you need allowance to be absent for more than one day, you must contact the principal.
2. Illness:
If you are ill, ask a friend to inform the office as quickly as possible.
3. Alcohol:
Misuse of alcohol will not be tolerated. Misuse is defined as resulting in behaviour unacceptable to your surroundings, which includes active participating in instruction. Misuse can be ground for expulsion.
Drinking of alcohol at the school is not allowed at days before normally weekdays with classes.
4. Narcotics:
Use or possession of narcotics of any kind, also including hash, is not allowed.
5. Quiet:
In consideration of those who want to sleep, you must be quiet after 23:00 hours. This means that no loud music or loud talking should take place after this time.
6. Parties:
Parties in the dining room will stop at 1:00 o’clock after which there will be clean-up.
7. Students bank:
If you have a lot of cash the office of the school can keep them for you.
8. Fire alarm:
Read carefully the instructions which hang on your bulletin board. And use common sense. It is, for example, cosy with candles, but be cautious. Never set candles directly on tables, windowsills, or on the floor.
9. Cleaning:
Students clean their rooms, the entrance and the bathroom themselves.
The corridors and lounges are cleaned by the people who live in the corridor according to the plan which is hung up in the corridor kitchen. The inhabitants of each corridor are jointly responsible for order and cleanliness.
Class rooms are cleaned according to the plan which the school has determined.
10. The library / the computer room:
The computers have Internet connection and you can use them free when there isn’t any classes in the room.
11. Keys:
Room keys also fit your wardrobe and the outer doors of the school. All outside doors must be locked after 23:00 hours.
There is a deposit for the key of 200 DKK. The deposit has to be paid to the office in the first week. You will receive the deposit back when the semester ends and you return the key and your room.
12. Dining:
We expect you to participate in the meals and especially the lunch where a lot of common messages will be given. For weekend meals there is a special registration at lunch on Thursdays.
13. Office hours:
Are from 12:30 – 13:30. Please respect these times.
14. Janitor:
If you have problems with your rooms or furniture, go to one of the janitors. Light bulbs in the ceiling and in the bathroom are changed by the janitors.
15. Doctor:
The doctors of the school are “Lægerne (the doctors) Randlevvej”, telephone no. 86540011.
You have to call between 9:00-12:00 and ask for a time for a surgery.
Surgery per telephone from 8:00 to 9:00.
After 16:00 there is a emergency medical service at telephone 86201022.
16. Kitchen duty:
Groups of approx 4 students help in the kitchen twice a day. All students have to help for one week in the semester. The kitchen staff will give you the instructions Monday at lunch.
17. School council:
We will organize a school council which must have one's finger on the pulse of the life at the school. The school council will together with the corridor teachers and the principal decide the agenda for the corridor meetings. Everybody has the possibility to participate but you must be responsible for our common life at the school. The school council will meet every second week.
18. Washing:
There are reservations for washing hours according to the scheme in the washing room. Tokens for the machines (including soap) and drying machines can be bought at the office for 15 DKK. Please do not dry clothes in your room or bathroom – it causes humidity problems. Use the drying room instead.
19. Students room and the furniture:
If anything is broken you have to tell the school immediately. After the semester you are responsible to leave the room exactly as nice as you received it.
20. The roofs of the school:
It is dangerous and strictly forbidden to step or climb at the roofs of the school.
21. Hanging in the room:
Please be careful to the walls if you put up some pictures; use the display board.
22. Beer, wine and alcohol:
Must only be brought to the dining room for organized parties.
23. Visitors:
Your guests are very welcome. You should inform the school beforehand. The payment for guests is 60 DKK per day and includes the meals.
If the school has any free rooms you can rent a room for your guests for the price of 100 DKK per day. Or your guests can sleep on a mattress in your room.
24. Ashtrays and outdoor dustbins:
Are only for ashes and stumps. Please do not throw garbage in them.
25. Smoking:
Smoking indoor is strictly forbidden everywhere in the school also in the students room and the corridors.
26. Insurance:
Odder Hojskole are assured against damage where the school or the employees of the school are responsible. But Odder Hojskole does not have any insurance that covers the personal belongings of the student neither do we have any insurance that covers accident when the school isn’t responsible. You can, if you think it is necessary, take out a travel policy or a private accident insurance at an insurance company.
27. Duvet/quilt and pillow:
International students can borrow this from the school.
28. Bed linen and towel:
International students can rent this from the school. The price is 75 DKK for a set.
If you have rented bed linen and towel; then pleas wash it sometimes during your stay.
